Whole Home Remodel for the Handler Family in Tomball, TX
We start off reviewing our favorite home remodeling projects with the Handler Family home. This family was looking for a complete update on their slightly older home in Tomball, TX in the Lakewood Grove neighborhood. We were able to assess their wants and needs and come up with the perfect plan for their budget. Some of the details even included aging-in-place modifications so that the house could continue to be their dream home over time.
Where Do You Even Begin When You Want a Whole Home Remodel?
Every homeowner looking to remodel has a wishlist and it is our job as the design and build team to address each concern, decide what is a priority, and make it work with their life and their budget.
A good place to start is always a little bit of paint and flooring. These simple things are the quickest way to give your home an updated look without any major changes. After working with our team, they decided to also focus on the kitchen, powder bathroom, master bathroom, stairs, & fireplace.
The kitchen and bathroom areas are the most common remodeling projects in older homes. If you think about it, they are the most used and hopefully most scrubbed areas of the house. Caulking peels, tile breaks, and appliances become outdated.
And the icing on the cake that gave this house a truly renewed aesthetic was a simple facelift to the stairs and fireplace.
We were able to achieve what felt like a brand-new home for this wonderful family without knocking out any major walls or costly add-ons.
The Kitchen Remodel
The goal for this kitchen remodel was a clean modern style with loads of function. We are so happy to offer exclusive appliances that make putting these two wishlist items together seamless. Our Zline kitchen appliances & Ruvati sinks added beauty as well as function to this project. One of our favorite parts of this project was the addition of a drawer microwave which is a huge space saver and a beautiful sleek design that comes in 3 finishes. See more about all of the Zline appliance options in the collection catalog. Other touches included granite counters, commercial style pull down kraus faucet, and a Ruvati sink.
The Master Bathroom Remodel
Even a homeowner in their 40s or 50s should begin thinking about their next home remodeling projects based on how their home will age with them. A bathroom remodel is one of the main areas of the house where modifications need to be made for injury or limited mobility. We believe that function should never compromise beauty so we fitted this home’s master bathroom with an ADA-compliant curbless shower, a shower bench wrapped in quarts that matched the counters, a hand-held shower bar, & a custom-built vanity with a storage tower.
Powder bathroom remodel
The powder room is an often forgotten space to update. Homeowners may not use it much but, most guests are going to visit it so it makes sense to include it in your whole home remodel. New hardware, paint, & flooring go a long way in a small space such as a powder bath.
Stair Renovation & Fireplace Update
The stairs got an easy update with new modern iron balusters. And the Fireplace got a minor facelift with a major impact.
From top to bottom: all new floors, paint, recessed lighting, & exterior doors
We replaced their old tile with new LVT and carpet flooring. We added LED recessed lighting to create a more open feel that some older houses are lacking all while being energy efficient. And just to make sure the entrances of the home were just as stylish as the rest, we replaced all of their exterior doors.

The Result: A Very Happy Family!
“We discussed our extensive remodel with three contractors over a two-week period in August. Amanda and Dan were the second ones we met with, and as soon as they left our home, we looked at each other and said ‘They were impressive.’ They offered terrific suggestions about what we could do including recommendations about how best to prepare our home for transitioning into our later years. Their bid was right within our budget. So that’s just the beginning. Then there’s the actual experience of working together. It was wonderful. Every request, every change, and every question was addressed and answered promptly. Amanda has the vision for what can be and Dan has the skill for making it happen. Their sub-contractors are talented, polite, and treated our home with care. Dan promised to complete the extensive remodel within 10 weeks. When we told some friends they laughed and said ‘add another month or two’ As of today everything will be finished – 8 weeks and a day after the big demolition dumpster arrived in our driveway. I highly recommend Broderick Dean Construction. They’re kind, professional, on budget, and on time!”
